The History of Hershey's Chocolate The Hershey Company, producers of perhaps the most famous chocolate in America, began life in Pennsylvania in 1894 when Milton S. Hershey decided to add chocolate to the caramels he already produced. Basing his company in the Derry township near where he was born, the first Hershey's chocolate bar is produced in 1900 using milk from nearby dairy farms. By 1905 he was producing the unmistakable Hershey's milk chocolate in bulk. Hershey's most famous product, Hershey's Kisses, was introduced in 1907 and a year later a the Hershey's Milk Chocolate and Almonds bar followed. A host of products followed, including (but far from limited to!) the Mr Goodbar (1925), Hershey's Miniatures (1939), Hershey's Special Dark (1971) and Hershey's Cookies 'n' Creme (1994).
